The Research Animal Resource Center (RARC), a component of the Center of Comparative Medicine and Pathology, provides staff and facilities to effect the humane care and use of animals used in research and teaching at Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM), the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK).

About Us
The Research Animal Resource Center (RARC), a component of the Center of Comparative Medicine and Pathology (CCMP), provides staff and facilities to effect the humane care and use of animals used in research and teaching at WCM. RARC is multi-institutional, administering the animal care and use programs at the Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) and the Hospital Special Surgery (HSS) as well as at Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK). RARC is responsible for the daily care of over 300,000 animals, principally rodents, provided by ~ 300 staff. RARC operates vivaria in Manhattan, Westchester County, and Doha, Qatar.
Mission Statement
• To promote the thoughtful and humane use of animals in research and teaching toward the goal of continued advancement in the field of human and animal health;
• To provide the highest quality of husbandry and health care for animals used in research and teaching;
• To serve as a resource to investigative staff by providing professional services facilitating the humane use of animals; and,
• To provide institutional and public assurance that policies and regulations set forth by federal, state and local governments regarding the conduct of animal research are upheld
