CITI Access Information

Weill Cornell Medicine requires that researchers and research staff engaged in human subjects research complete specialized training in human subjects protections.

What is CITI?

The Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program is a leading provider of research ethics, compliance, and professional development education. The CITI program is completely web-based and can be accessed by any user anywhere in the world who has access to the Internet.  The "Basic Course" consists of 12 modules that can be stopped and started at the user's convenience; the average user will complete the entire course in approximately 2 hours.  Although only the 12 Biomedical Modules are required by WCM, we encourage you to complete the additional Social-Behavioral Research modules as well.  These modules address current issues such as Internet Research, Research in Educational Settings, and more.

How to access CITI

Access CITI by logging into WRG (wrg.weill.cornell.edu) with your CWID and password, then click on the ‘CITI Training’ button located on the left-hand side of the page.

If you do not have a CITI account, you must create one now. Go here for instructions. You must select Weill Cornell Medical College as your affiliation; failure to do so will result in your completion certificates NOT being registered in WRG.

Required Courses

All WCM Investigators and members of their research teams must complete the required modules for certification in Human Subjects Protection Training.  Submissions in WRG-HS that are missing completion confirmation for any team member will not be processed.

How to add the IRB Member course

Click on the "View Courses" button next to Weill Cornell Medical College.  At the bottom of the next page, you will see section called "Learner Tools for Weill Cornell Medical College".  Click on "Add a Course":

This will bring you the curriculum selection page.  Only questions 1, 5, 6, and 11 require answers.  Make sure you select "IRB Members" for question 5: "Please make your selection below to receive the course for IRB Members"

IRB members selection

The IRB Member Course modules will now appear under "Courses Ready to Begin" on your dashboard.  There are 34 required courses.  You do NOT have to complete them in one setting, but they must be completed before you can begin serving on the board.
