Resident Grant
Grant Cycle: June 1, 2017 - May 31, 2018

Resident grants up to $20,000 are available for clinical research or basic research projects.
Eligibility: The principal investigator must be an orthopaedic resident (the co-principal investigator does NOT have to be a resident). Either the principal investigator, or co-principal investigator, must be an OTA member. The research must be conducted in North America.
Note: OTA Resident Grants will not be awarded to subsidize larger on-going research projects.

Funding: Total funding is $50,000 (Two payments of $25,000 over 18-moths cycle) and will include only direct costs. No salary support will be allowed for participating surgeons.
Eligibility: Either the principal investigator, or co-principal investigator must be an OTA member.
OTA Member Full Grant Pre-proposal
Grant Cycle: January 1, 2018 - December 31, 2019
Application Deadline: February 13, 2017
All directed-topic and general member grants (clinical and basic research) are competing for the same funding pool and therefore the best overall grants will receive funding.
The following grants are available for any research issue related to musculoskeletal trauma (excluding product development):
- Clinical Research Grants ($40,000/year maximum for up to 2 years)
- Basic Research Grants ($25,000/year maximum for up to 2 years)
- Directed Topic Research Grant ($50,000/year maximum for up to 3 years) in the following topics:
- Musculoskeletal Infection
- Treatment and Prevention of Post-traumatic Arthritis after Articular Fractures
- Systemic and Healing Response of Compromised Patient to Trauma-Elderly, Diabetic and Obese
- Evaluation of Ability of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association Open Fracture classification to Predict Amputation, Infection and Soft Tissue Coverage Procedures
- Pain Management in Orthopaedic Trauma
Eligibility: Either the principal investigator, or co-principal investigator must be an OTA member. The research must be conducted in North America. You may apply in more than one grant category if applicable.

OTA International Grant Pre-proposal
Grant Cycle: January 1, 2018 - December 31, 2019
Application Deadline: March 31, 2017
Maximum funding up to $50,000 based on grant merit (covering direct cost) over 2 year period.
Eligibility: The principal investigator must be a member of the Orthipaedic Trauma Association outside of North America and the research must be conducted outside of North America.
