The goal of this grant is to have the recipient subsequently obtain additional funding from other peer-reviewed sources, (e.g., NIH).

Examples of Research Topics:
Projects may include but are not limited to topics such as:

  • Investigating the role of SVC stenting in oncologic patients
  • Investigating the role of systemic immunotherapy in primary metastatic liver disease
  • Can intraprocedural imaging/monitoring determine the therapeutic effect of the intervention?
  • What is the role of IR interventions in breast cancer?
  • Comparing IR for spine interventions for pain to external beam radiation with a particular focus on length of stay
  • The use of IVUS in chronic limb ischemia
  • Advanced interventions for limb preservation i.e., Deep Vein Arterialization (DvA) in limb preservation and angiographic/clinical endpoints
  • Role of ultrasound imaging in AV access stenosis diagnosis and interventions
  • Renal Tumor Interventions-> new indications and expansion
  • Identification of intervention and improvements for treatment of non-thrombotic iliac vein lesions
  • What are the best interventions for superficial vein disease? (thermal vs. non-thermal)
  • Develop an education tool for all potential UFE treatments that provide outreach to the communities in increasing payment and quality initiatives
  • Evaluate all imaging criteria with pathology and symptoms to establish non-invasive imaging classification system
  • Define mechanisms of actions for embolic interventions using animal/preclinical studies
  • Utilizing existing nationwide and local data to evaluate and confirm IRs perceived dogma as “quicker, safer, better”
  • Evaluate procedural variables such as (fluoroscopy dose, contrast load, procedure time, etc.) across IR in different practice environments, as well as between specialties
