American Epilepsy Society (AES) Predoctoral Research Fellowship

The American Epilepsy Society (AES) Predoctoral Research Fellowships support predoctoral students who are pursuing dissertation research with an epilepsy-relevant theme, and who are working under the guidance of a mentor with expertise in epilepsy research. Proposals are welcomed across the spectrum of basic, translational, and clinical research.

The AES Predoctoral Research Fellowship offers:
  • 1 year of support
  • $29,000  stipend support
  • $1,000 travel support to the AES Annual Meeting
  • one-year AES membership

Next anticipated deadline in January 2025. 

Eligibility

  • PhD Student, in field relevant to epilepsy research
  • Have a qualified mentor(s) with expertise on the specific aspects of epilepsy related research targeted in the proposal
  • NO citizenship requirements. All research must take place in the United States

Application Requirements

Application are submitted through ProposalCentral.

    1. Title (75 characters)
    2. 1 or 2 letters of reference
    3. General Lay Abstract (1500 characters including spaces)
    4. Scientific Abstract (1500 characters including spaces)
    5. Applicant Biosketch
    6. Mentor Biosketch
    7. Only if applicable. Co-mentor Biosketch
    8. Research plan (6 pages)
    9. Applicant Statement and Training Goals (2 pages)
    10. Other support (template document describing primary mentor’s research support for last 3 years)
    11. Facilities Available (template document, no page limit)
    12. Proposal Development. (template document, no page limit)
    13. Letter of support from project mentor
    14. Optional. letters of support from collaborators or consultants
    15. Only if applicable. Documentation for use of vertebrate animals or human subjects
    16. Optional. Supplementary Training Award application (1 page)

  • Applications must be routed to the OFSW via Weill Research Gateway (WRG) 7 business days before the sponsor deadline for Pre-Review and 2 business days before the sponsor deadline for final review
