Finding and Navigating Mentoring

A two-part workshop where attendees will learn how to use an Individual Development Plan (IDP) and strategies to seek and build research mentoring relationships. Fellows, residents, students, and faculty from all training levels are welcome and encouraged to participate. The following is the schedule for the 2 part workshop. You can sign up for both or individual sessions. One-on-one consultations are reserved for registrants; you MUST sign up for one or both parts to attend. Program Schedule: Developing an IDP (8:30am - 10:30am) • Individual Development Plan (IDPs): defining career mission, goals, and objectives • Implementing the IDP: translating goals and objectives into action • Learning strategies to turn your IPD into an NIH K Award Career Development Plan How to Find Research Mentors and Sustain Relationship (11:00am - 1:00pm) • The Myths and Realities of Mentoring • How to Find Mentors: Five Steps to Mentoring • How to Manage and Sustain the Mentoring Relationship One-on-One Consultation (1:00pm - 3:30pm) • 15-20 minute individual consultation (an appointment will be assigned based on availability) Featured Presenters: Joan M.
