
Dr. Kristin Berger, an instructor in medicine in the Division of Pulmonology and Critical Care, and Dr. Daniel Choi, an instructor in medicine in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, have received Fund for the Future awards. These awards support selected Weill Cornell Medicine junior faculty transitioning from their research training into their first faculty position. Dr. Ching-Lan Lu, a postdoctoral fellow in immunology, was also selected as a Fund for the Future awardee, but a recently received NIH K training grant superseded the internal award.
Dr. Mohamed Osman, a postdoctoral associate in medicine, received a 2025 Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network Young Investigator Award. The one-year, $75,000 award recognizes early-career researchers making meaningful contributions to bladder cancer research. In addition, Dr. Osman was selected for the inaugural 2025 AACR-EMD Serono "I'M IN" Oncodisparity Fellowship in Lung and Urothelial Cancers. The fellowship provides $65,000 in funding to address cancer health disparities and support innovative research in lung and urothelial cancers.
Dr. Joseph Safdieh, senior associate dean for education, the Richard P. Cohen, M.D. Professor of Medical Education and a professor of neurology, received the Distinguished Neurology Educator Award from the American Neurological Association. The award recognizes and rewards contributions by gifted and talented teachers of neurology. Nominees come from the entire field of clinical neurology or neuroscience.
