The Mitchell Alan Ross Prize was established to encourage young investigators to pursue research in the areas of epilepsy and/or birth asphyxia.
A prize of $5,000, to be used at the recipient’s discretion, will be awarded to a graduating Fellow, Resident, or Post-doctoral trainee who has completed an outstanding research project in the area of epilepsy and/or birth asphyxia. Priority will be given to individuals who plan to pursue research in epilepsy and/or birth asphyxia as a career. The prize will be announced in June and awarded prior to July 1 on an annual basis.

Eligibility
- Graduating fellows, residents, and postdoctoral fellows at Weill Cornell Medicine
- Project must involve epilepsy and/or birth asphyxia (basic, translational, and clinical research projects are acceptable)
Application Requirements
- Recommendation letter from the Department Chair (1-2 pages)
- Research statement from the nominee describing the nominee’s research background, current research efforts related to the prize focus area, brief description of the candidate’s career development plan, and future goals (2-3 pages)
- Updated CV
Criteria for selection of the recipient will include quality of research statement, strength of recommendation letter, and nominee’s track record for success.
