Description of Program:
The Florence Gould Foundation Research Scholar Award for Discovery in Stroke was established to provide endowed funding to outstanding scientists working in the area of stroke. Income from the RSA endowment will provide talented junior investigators the support needed to engage in advancing their research programs.
Number of awards: 1
Level of Support: ~$50,000 /year for 3 years; with an opportunity for 3 additional years contingent on satisfactory progress.
Note: RSA funds can be used for any appropriate component of a faculty member’s research expenses, including, but not limited to salary replacement

Eligibility
Eligibility Criteria for RSAs:
• Full-time Assistant or Associate Professor with an independent research program in basic/translational research. Clinical research programs are not eligible for Research Scholar Awards.
• Applicant cannot concurrently hold another internal endowed award.
Application Requirements
Internal application requirements:
- Letter of Nomination from the Chair of Department or Head of Division (1-2 pages)
- Statement from the nominee describing their research background, current research efforts, and future goals. This should also include a statement about how their research is well-aligned with the goals of the specific RSA and how this award will help them to achieve their future research objectives (2 pages)
