Summer Intern Scholarships in Cardiothoracic Surgery


The Summer Intern Scholarship program was established to introduce the field of cardiothoracic surgery to first and second year medical students in a North American medical school and to broaden their educational experience by providing an opportunity to spend eight weeks during the summer (June thru September) working in a North American cardiothoracic surgery department.

Perioperative/Team-Based Care Poster Competition


The Perioperative/Team-Based Care Poster Competition provides an opportunity for non-MD cardiothoracic surgical team professionals (NPs, PAs, Perfusionists, and RNs) to submit an abstract for consideration to participate in a scientific poster competition at the 2018 AATS Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA, April 28 - May 1. These posters may contain material that has been previously presented.

Cardiothoracic Surgery Resident Poster Competition


Provides an opportunity for senior cardiothoracic surgery residents and/or congenital heart surgery fellows to represent their institution in a competition by presenting a scientific poster of their clinical/investigative research at the 2018 AATS Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA, April 28 -  May 1.

Third Andrew Morrow Research Scholarship 2018 – 2020

The Third Andrew Morrow Research Scholarship provides an opportunity for research, training and experience for North American surgeons committed to pursuing an academic career in cardiothoracic surgery. A yearly stipend of $80,000 will be paid to the host institution to support the academic expenses of the awardee. 

Evarts A. Graham Memorial Traveling Fellowship, 2018-2019

Provides an opportunity for promising young academic cardiothoracic surgeons from outside the United States and Canada to attend a North American AATS Member's institution to broaden their overall training and increase international contacts. This Fellowship will provide successful applicants a stipend of $75,000 US to support studies at a primary center of their choice as well as travel to secondary sites in North America. 

Cardiothoracic Ethics Forum Scholarship


Grants opportunities for intellectual development and preparation for leadership roles in CT ethics, the Forum (supported by the AATS and STS) offers scholarships for interested CT surgeons to obtain formal education and training in biomedical ethics through programs offered by leading ethics centers.
