Program details:

This award is intended to provide interim support to junior faculty whose research funding has been interrupted and is pending resubmission of an NIH application.

Must provide compelling evidence that the requested grant will be gap filling in one of the following ways:

  • provide interim support to junior faculty whose research funding has been interrupted and is pending resubmission of an NIH or a foundation application
  • help generate additional preliminary data for a first R01 or similar.

Eligibility

 Junior faculty (<10 years after faculty appointment)

Application Requirements

Weill Cornell Medicine is limited to submitting one nominee. Due to this limitation an internal selection process will be coordinated. Chairpersons/Division Heads may submit no more than two nominations from their department/division.

Note: Chairs/Division Heads submitting more than one nomination must comment on the relative strengths and weaknesses of the two nominees. Send the candidates' comparison summary by email to researchdean@med.cornell.edu by the internal deadline indicated above. 

Internal submissions should contain the following information:

Margins should be at least one inch and font size no less than 11 point.

  1. 1-page nomination letter from the Department Chair/Div Chief briefly describing the candidate and how her/his research fulfills the specific award requirements
  2. 1-page description of the research project and how it addresses the specific requirements of the award
  3. Recent grant submission status/history of the applicant. Please include scores and comments from pending NIH resubmission/s. Clarify role in the pending application (PI, co-PI), and where the work will be performed (WCM or elsewhere). Include history of previous, current, and pending funding. (1 page)
  4. Applicant’s Biosketch
