Budget: approximately $40,000 for 1 year
Number of Applications: 1 application from WCM (not including Ithaca)
Program Description:
- To support meritorious early-career faculty's pivotal research projects.
- The Foundation is looking for firm, single piece of equipment needs that can be accommodated or offset by the $40K grant.
- The Foundation is focused on supporting hardware rather than software tools.
- The Foundation favors making gifts for equipment, which should be justified in terms of accelerating or enabling a research program and yielding data that will ultimately affect human health.
- The equipment purchase should be highly strategic in the context of accelerating or enabling research for a particular project and will better position the investigator for external funding and publishable research results.
- The Foundation favors making gifts for equipment that will be useful beyond the duration of the project, especially if it can migrate for other researchers'/departments' use.
- Early-career faculty with substantial start-up funds will need to strongly justify this request.
