American Gastroenterological Association - Research Scholar Award

External Deadline:
Nov 2020
Internal Deadline:
Aug 2017

The American Gastroenterological Association is accepting applications for its 2019 Research Scholar Award program.

Through the annual program, AGA provides $90,000 per year for three years to young investigators, instructors, research associates, or equivalents working toward independent careers in gastroenterology, hepatology, or related areas. The program is designed to enable qualified applicants to develop independent and productive research careers in digestive diseases by ensuring that a major portion of their time is protected for research.

The award will support young faculty (not fellows) who have demonstrated exceptional promise and have some record of accomplishment in research. Candidates should be in the early years of their careers (i.e., established investigators are not appropriate candidates for the award). For M.D. applicants, no more than seven years must have elapsed following the completion of their clinical training (GI fellowship or its equivalent) and the start date of the award. For Ph.D. applicants, no more than seven years must have elapsed following the awarding of a Ph.D. and the start date of the award.
