Cyma Rubin Women in Science Lecture 2024: Dr. Bonnie L. Bassler “Adventures in Quorum Sensing Across Domains: From Viruses to Bacteria to Eukaryotes ”

The Cyma Rubin Women in Science Lectureship was created to highlight the accomplishments of distinguished women in the field and to inspire and promote women scientists. This year’s Cyma Rubin Women in Science Lectureship will take place on Monday, April 15, 2024 in C-200 and via online webinar. In-person attendance is highly encouraged, please register today. Welcome remarks will be provided by Robert A. Harrington, M.D., the Stephen and Suzanne Weiss Dean of Weill Cornell Medicine and Provost for Medical Affairs of Cornell University. Dr. Bonnie L. Bassler is the Squibb Professor in Molecular Biology, Chair of the Department of Molecular Biology, and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator at Princeton University. Weill Cornell Medicine is pleased to welcome Dr. Bassler as the 2024 Cyma Rubin Women in Science lecturer to provide her talk titled, “Adventures in Quorum Sensing Across Domains: From Viruses to Bacteria to Eukaryotes.” Cyma Rubin, in addition to her immense accomplishments as a Tony, Emmy, and London Film Festival awarded producer, writer, and director; earned her Bachelor of Science degree from North Carolina State University and also graduated from the New York School of Design. In 2003, she received an Honorary Doctorate in Fine Arts and the Distinguished Alumni Award from North Carolina State University
